History of Iskld

The source of this fine artesian water is a well in the area south of Åbenrå Fjord. The well is famous for its purity and drinkability since the early 1500s when Hans the Elder, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein appropriated it after tasting this fine premium water in a local inn.500 Years later, this incomparable premium artesian water by Iskld is still as pure and tasty as it was in the time of the Duke.

Iskld water

Optimal geological conditions for a natural artesian wells are only found in a few spots in Denmark and Iskld is fortunate to be able to tap into one of them.
The water flows 10 000 years through natural sediments of quartz sand, where it gets trapped in layers of clay by which it forms the basis for a artesian source.
Iskld water is crystal clear. This premium artisan water has a refreshing taste profile with a slight sweetish aftertaste. Iskld has a high oxygen content and is naturally alcalic, and a naturally milky mouthfeel is present due to its high calcium and magnesium contents.

Bottling process

Iskld water has no “cultural” traces, it is so pure that no filtration treatement is needed, because of which it can be bottled directly from the source.
The bottling process is done next to the well and great effort has been made to avoid pumping of the water before bottling it. The machines and piping mechanisms were designed to preserve the natural pure taste of Iskld Water. The process is done semi manually, and the speed of the bottling is dictated purely by the natural flow of Iskld water.

This uniquely clear and refreshing water is ideal to be paired with a nice wine, but is on its own a true refresher and reminder of the beauty of nature.
