Traditionally, leaves, lemon or fruit, spices and cane sugar are poured with ice water and consumed with the usual mate straw, the bombilla. The Puerto Mate ice tea is based on this traditional method and also follows the tradition of the South Americans, since only ingredients of the highest quality and from sustainable and fair cultivation are used for the new Mate drink.
The heart of the ice mate tea, the yerba mate, comes from a mate farm in Puerto Esperanza, Argentina, which was established in 1926 by a German professor. The responsible workers benefit from an above-average income and are also covered by social insurance. Sustainability and fairness are also always the key values when working with mate plants and our environment.
The Yerba-Mate undergoes a very gentle drying process before being prepared. Thus we can guarantee with certainty that there is no risk of toxic hydrocarbons and that only the health-promoting components of the mate remain.
